The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) announced it is in its final stages of testing the State & Local Emissions Inventory System (SLEIS) according to a November 20, 2015 report from Trinity Consultants. SLEIS is
Iowa’s new online air emissions inventory reporting system and will replace SPARS (State Permitting and Air Reporting System) although SPARS will still have the capability to submit construction permit and Title V operating permit applications.
Based on the feedback the IDNR receives during November, a decision will be made as to whether to begin electronic reporting in SLEIS next year or wait until 2017. SLEIS is currently in a sandbox-testing period to allow businesses to practice using the system and provide comments to IDNR. During this sandbox-testing period, businesses can modify their facility and emissions data without affecting future emission inventory reporting, as the data from SPARS will be reloaded in January.
Users can register and log into SLEIS by following the link through the air quality eAirServices Webpage
