MIRATECH Continues Global Webinar Series with Data Center Emission Trends & Tier V Presentation

January 11, 2021

Tulsa, Oklahoma – January 6, 2021 – MIRATECH Corporation successfully continued its free global webinar series with its second installment: Data Center Emission Trends & Tier V. The webinar was open to industry professionals and customers on Tuesday, Dec. 15 via GoToWebinar, and it drew a large virtual audience from throughout the world. Attendees learned about the data center emission trends and how Tier V level diesel generators provide power to facilities that can be cleaner than grid power.

The webinar conversation included MIRATECH engine emissions experts in Division Manager for Power Generation, Nick Detor, and Director of Environmental Impact, Jim McDonald. Between Detor and McDonald, they bring more than 60 years of engine emissions industry experience.

“There is a common misconception that a diesel generator is unequivocally a dirty form of energy,” McDonald said. “Diesel generators with Tier V level of control can provide some of the cleanest, most cost-effective and reliable power available. We provide full consultations showing how the average Tier V performing diesel engine can have cleaner emissions output and less harmful costs to society than the average power delivered to a facility through the grid.”

The Tier V system moves the industry forward by allowing users to reduce not only EPA criteria pollutant emissions, but also harmful Air Toxics, such as Formaldehyde and PAHs, and Global Warming Potential (GWP) emissions. These reductions will provide both permit compliance and operational flexibility without sacrificing overall reliability.

Currently, EPA regulations require that diesel generators be equipped with Tier 2 compliant solutions with regular emissions testing in the field. Tier 4 required more stringent NOx and PM reductions by incorporating an inducement mechanism in 2011. Tier V moves beyond these regulations to offer End Users the ability to further reduce GWP emissions and provide the facility a smaller carbon footprint.

If you missed the webinar, a recorded version of the presentation is available. Please contact the MIRATECH team if you are interested in receiving the recorded presentation.
